Saying Goodbye

Saying goodbye … to a bad year, a difficult life event, a bad job, an unforeseen hardship, goodbye is easy. Saying goodbye to fourteen years of faithful friendship and limitless, unconditional love … crushing and heartbreaking.

“Is this it?”

With each passing day the smallest of changes lead to a greater progression. The occasional and slight loss of coordination grows to an inability to stay balanced, and at times, stay upright. Watching closely, the rise and fall of his chest as he sleeps, his breathing slows and takes longer than it used to. At times, watching intently, stillness, nothing… watching, waiting, each second feels like sixty. Your heart crashes to the pit of your stomach then, he inhales. Relief.. he’s okay.

Preparing

Sweet girl came in November for a quick trip. Our dear friend Asiah captured the most stunning shots of this handsome boy and our beautiful daughter.

A Time for Everything

Borrowed time is the day we live in now, and we are grateful for every day God allows this sweet boy to be under our roof and in our care. Another day to love again on this side of eternity.

“There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:” Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV

Tonight we lay our heads not knowing what tomorrow will bring but beyond grateful to have him with us still. What we do know is our God is a faithful God no matter what. It is not up to us to question our King’s sovereignty but to be grateful in all things.

The Plan

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Skittles ‘n “Sissy”

Joy comes in the morning, (Psalm 30:5) and that is one of the many promises we will hold on to tonight.

Sweet dreams dear friends, sweet dreams.

  1. It is so heartbreaking to say this kind of goodbye. Our pets become a genuine part of our families, never failing to shower us with unconditional love. I pray for comfort for you and your family as you grieve. Remember the joy he brought you.
