Two thousand two hundred and sixty miles from home I stand in awe beneath a canopy of Ponderosa and Lodgepole pines surrounded by Cherry blossom trees exploding with blooms, and all on a carpet of rich green grass peppered with moss covered rocks. It is Spring in Washington State and it shows in the landscape here.
Near the Canadian border and about 90 minutes North of Seattle I am with our middle son Kyle, his beautiful and sweet girlfriend Chelsea, her little sister Chloe and her amazing parents. Kyle attends university here and will graduate next Spring.
If it’s alright with you… I would very much like to take you with me on this trip to visit our children. Let’s go shall we?
The youngest, Travis, lives in Houston, Texas and will graduate in June while the other two older boys live in different parts of Washington State. We had no family in this part of the world, but they fell in love with beautiful young ladies so they left family, friends, and the only state they really ever knew.
Tyler, the eldest, lives in Vancouver with his beautiful wife Gabi and their son, our g-baby, Finnegan. After Kyle’s classes we will travel South to spend a few incredible days with son, daughter-in-love, and our g-baby. The road trip and windshield time will be irreplaceable as we traverse across the roads of Washington to join the others.
Here and now my thoughts are of gratitude and in complete awe realizing my life was vastly different from just three short years ago. Over a decade and a half of divorce, difficulties, anxiety, PTSD, loneliness, disease, and grief I remember. I choose to remember and share with you to illuminate all God has restored, unlocked and poured over a provision I did not even think to ask for. I did not know it could be possible. My, at times, glimmer of hope has turned into a 100% sold out, unwavering belief and knowing that our God is faithful, omnipotent, omniscient, and ever present loving God. He was and is ALL these things before the provision He so graciously baptized me in. I share this with you, my friend, to give you an authentic hope if you are walking through a fiery trial, a bad medical report, financial or relational chaos or any other difficulty no matter how big or how small.
For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 (HCSB)
God created the heavens and the earth and all the living things in it. Mesmerized by His creativity I’ll show you what I saw.
Breathtaking Whatcom Falls State Park; Bellingham, Washington
Washington State and Chuckanut Drive in particular is nature’s wonderland exploding with rich landscapes, dozens of islands surrounded by the vast Pacific Ocean, thousands of hidden trails that are, for the majority of our state, foreign to Texas.

As our adventure continues today I will be thinking of you and praying for you. I pray that whether you are or not in a difficult place that God will release His beauty for you today and in the days ahead. Take delight in ALL He has created. He has planned amazing things for you to experience today. I can’t wait to hear what those glorious riches are.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 (NIV)
Love y’all.
