Have I Not Commanded You…

Have I Not Commanded You…

There are no coincidences with God.

So, today Shawn Bouldin preached and in his message he shared his life verse, Joshua 1:9.

What Shawn didn’t know is how Joshua 1:9 came to be the boys and my life verse as well. After service I shared our testimony…

March 13, 2007 on an overcast day over spring break by friend and I made a field trip to and drove to see the bald eagles nest. March is when the baby eaglets are born and we might have a chance to see them or maybe the momma or daddy eagle. After several hours and a picnic lunch we were getting ready to leave when a semi truck going 60+ miles per hour crossed the double yellow and with no breaks plowed into all of our parked cars like a snowplow. When the semi crashed we only knew where 2 of our 6 children were. Running toward the carnage I spotted what I thought was my car. Barely recognizable. The doors were crimped shut, Tyler was unconscious. The smells of gas, rubber, metal, fluids and death permeate the air. Managing to eventually pry my body in between the door to get it open I see my oldest boy unresponsive and bleeding from the head. For fear of Fire I screamed to wake him up, pulling his shirt and limb to drag him from the drivers seat to safety. Once freed and well away from the wreckage I saw his blood stained shirt with the scripture verse Joshua 1:9. It would be until days later I looked up the verse and was overcome with emotion. He sent us a message. He not only sent us the message but He did as it said. He is with us wherever we may go. You see, just moments before and as the semi was crashing into our cars the Lord orchestrated an argument to ensue between the boys leading 2 to go tattle to me and Lisa, and the other children would soon follow behind my car and toward Lisa as we were distracted watching the semi take one life from this world and injure several others including Tyler.

We are just a few weeks away from the anniversary of that near fatal crash. I share the story where I can not to be a victim or a martyr but to rejoice and share how God spared us and how He talked to us that day.

We will never forget how God orchestrated the hedge of protection over us and how loving He is through the Word of God.

His Word is timeless and serves us today in every circumstance. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.

There are no coincidences with God.

As I sit here in this comfy chair with three dogs and my husband napping I came across a fellow bloggers post.

As I feel Him nudging and lovingly prompting me I say, “Okay Lord, I will write.”

Rae writes in Real as the Streets and her contribution was simple yet quite clear in Joshua 1:9.

My husband Mark and I discussed the verse even more after Service. You see, Joshua came into reign after Moses. Now it was Joshua’s task to cross the Israelites into the promise land. The staff had been transferred. The proverbial baton had been passed.

When I read the verse I listen to the time God used. Now, I will not presume to know this is true, but I look at this from a parents view.

Raising three boys alone as a single mom most of their lives I know what it sounds like when I have told one, two, or all three to do something and they persist in NOT doing “it”. Hence the first words of this scripture…

Have I not commanded you?

I believe God has told Joshua time and time again until He feels He must pull out that “daddy” voice. You know, that okay-I’ve-almost-had-it-but-I’m-not-gunna-lose-it-frustrated voice.

Then God pours into Joshua and speaks life over him saying,

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you may go. Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

What a good, good Father we serve. Even when He is stern with His children He encourages, edifies, and builds up to go in faith to fulfill the task He has long since equipped us for.

Here’s a little video of Shawn’s message today at Living Waters Worship Center in Seguin, Texas.

I pray this verse and message blesses you. There is no coincidence you’ve read this far. How is God speaking to you through this verse or this message? I would love to hear from you. Seeing the Word of God impact and bless others is such a blessing to me.

I pray y’all have a blessed week. Stay in His Word and He will reveal Himself to you as well.

God bless!

As hard as I tried, I could not hear your pastor talk. But then, I didn’t need to because you see, I know there are no coincidences with God. I’m happpy your son lived to see another day and I’m sorry for the one “who got away”. But God had His reason. Painful as it might be.

Once again, God calls out to me from Lent, “What are you going to do for me?”
Please read my blog and follow me. I believe we’re all going to Heaven and soon.

    • Me either. I was so bummed and don’t know what happened to the volume. I agree with you about God knows our time. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply my friend. I appreciate you and will read/follow your blog. 🤗God bless you always!♥️

      • Thank you so much and I’ll be sure to read your blog, too. I would love to see your boys, but I don’t know that it’s a good idea to put their faces on the internet. Know what I mean? God bless you and keep safe all the days of your life. Take care. 😉

      • They’re grown now. I have a slideshow on the right side of http://www.OneStoneAway.com. You’ll see our adult kiddos and our grandbaby. Thanks for checking it out and letting me know your thoughts. Yes ma’am. God bless you and your family as well. Blessings, Missy 🤗😍
