Every Now and Then I Fall Apart…

She sits in her favorite sushi restaurant after a long hard day, a glass of Cabernet, at a table for two, yet the place settings are for but one. Her “regular” roll is on its way.  It’s Summer and friends are busy, work is busy, and her man is one thousand miles away, so far away.

RTomorrow evening will Mark our two week anniversary of being married. Some of you maybe rolling your eyes about now. “Oh please!” Who knows, I might be too unless and until I learned that Mark and I live and love one thousand miles apart. Yep, that’s right, he’s still in Florida and I am in Texas.

A Texas born native living in Florida (Mark).

A Florida born native living in Texas (Missy).

While Mark is in Florida working full time, God has not opened up employment or career opportunity in Texas. Meanwhile, Missy is working in Texas, has her house on the market and just graduated her youngest son. She has a job she loves and works with family she loves even more, her blood family and church family are in Texas, but she misses her husband terribly. She loves him with all her heart and he loves her.

Mark and I grew up on the vintage MTV of the 80’s where music videos were cutting edge and VJ’s were all the rage. Okay, you young’ns, that stands for Video DJ’s.

One of the iconic songs was by the musician Bonnie Tyler. Her song “Total Eclipse of the Heart” can take you back to that special time decades ago. I’ll share the lyrics with you…

Turnaround, every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you’re never coming round
Turnaround, every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears
Turnaround, every now and then I get a little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by
Turnaround, every now and then I get a little bit terrified and then I see the look in your eyes

Turnaround bright eyes, but every now and then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, every now and then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight
We’ll be holding on forever
And we’ll only be making it right
‘Cause we’ll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time (all of the time)
I don’t know what to do and I’m always in the dark
We’re living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever’s gonna start tonight
Forever’s gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I’m only falling apart
And there’s nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart

Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there’s only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart

Turnaround bright eyes, every now and then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, every now and then I fall apart
And I need you now tonight (and I need you now)
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight (and if you only)
We’ll be holding on forever
And we’ll only be making it right (’cause we’ll never be wrong)
‘Cause we’ll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time (all of the time)
I don’t know what to do and I’m always in the dark
We’re living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever’s gonna start tonight
Forever’s gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I’m only falling apart
And there’s nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart

A total eclipse of the heart
A total eclipse of the heart
Turn around bright eyes

While some of the lyrics don’t really apply to me or us I wanted to share it especially with “Total” being the word of the day to prompt me to write.

It’s been a long week and I miss my man, but we trust in our God. He is moving. He is providing and He is faithful.

I like what John Maxwell once said, “When you get kicked in the rear, you know you’re out in front!”
I don’t feel so much that the enemy has kicked me in the rear, but I like the idea of being out front. So I’m starting tomorrow in the lead and as the leader. I’m in first place. How about you?

In His love, MW
