Ask, Believe, Receive

“Any good desire that you have didn’t come from you it came from God.” Ps. Jimmy Evans

To spoil His children lavishly with riches only He can provide and give us the desires of our heart…that is the heart of our God.

“You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” John 14:14 (NIV)

Some think that by driving a nice car, living in a nice home or having nice things is not of God. Nothing can be further from the truth. God wants us to have nice things. Now, if the riches become an idol, well then, that’s an entirely different heart and not the heart of God.

In Matthew 7:7 the advise is the same, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened…”

It was only until I was diagnosed with breast cancer that I asked a specific request of God. My specific prayer request was that I not have to have chemo in my blood or radiation through my body as I walk through this.

You see, I could stand in the gap for you, pray in agreement with you for your healing, your dreams, your desires all day long. I still can and I still do. Without a doubt I completely believe God for it. But as for me? Well, I didn’t believe it for me. I wasn’t worthy enough. I wasn’t good enough. Others needed it more than me so I didn’t ask, until cancer.

I listened to the toxic whispers of the enemy and I recklessly put my Almighty God, the Alpha and Omega, my Soverign King in a tiny box. I did not ask, until cancer.

It is important to know that there are very necessary parts to my journey. I not only asked a very bold and specific request, but I 100%, without a shadow of a doubt believed Him for it. There also had to be a great need…and there was. I can’t even begin to explain the feeling because I never had experienced it before December 2014, but  I knew, that I knew, that I knew He would prove faithful. And He did.

It is by the grace of God and by His hands my treatment plan did NOT include chemotherapy or radiation. By His healing my lymph nodes were negative, margins were clean, borders were clean, the tumor measured 1.3 cm (very small) rendering it Stage 1. The glory belongs to Him for He has delivered me from “bc”. As I fall at His feet in reverence, I give the Lord ALL the glory. The strength, peace and love seen through me is ALL Him. (more)

Since then I have  been asking Him and asking often. He continues to spoil me lavishly. When others say I am spoiled I gladly agree with them and give God the glory. I praise Him and I am not ashamed of His favor. I walked almost my entire life not asking. I was content with what God had for me. Little did I know He wanted me to trust Him enough to ask all that I desire and press Him for it completely believing He can and He will. 

So, I did. 
So, I have. 
So, I do. 
So, I will.

After all, He already knew the desires of my heart. He already knows yours also.

We have a Savior who never stops pursuing us because He loves us. If we are not actively moving toward Jesus the enemy will use all measures and spare no extreme to pull us away from Him. We are always the target as is anything that will advance His Kingdom or glorify God.

“You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.” James 4:2

In the book of Ephesians Paul best describes the depth and width that our God can provide, 

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 

This is a life giving rescue breath straight from our loving God Almighty, King Jesus.

Through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, He has given each one of us the keys to the Kingdom. It is eternally better than having the keys to Daddy’s Benz! All He asks of us is to simply Ask, Believe, Receive and receive expectantly.

My prayer is to encourage you as He encourages me. Whatever your desires God knows each and every one down to the finest of details. He is your Father. Capture the desires of your heart in a scripture or an image and hold onto it. If it’s a photo, a story, a scripture, a song, lyrics, a poem, a dream, hold onto it. Meditate on it and thank Him in advance for giving you the desires of your heart. If all we ask is of His clear and perfect will He will provide. We will have it. If not, trust He can see beyond the borders and sees something eternally better for you… more than you can ask or imagine or as it says in The Message version..

“God can do anything, you know – far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!” Ephesians 3:20

Now let’s trust in Him enough to dream, dream BIG, dream specific, and dream wild my sisters and brothers.

He is waiting and He is able.
