We should ALL have but ONE enemy- satan.
Satan waits and watches. He is a calculated hunter whose primary purpose is to steal, kill, destroy, bait, trap and ensnare us. The bait of satan comes in many forms; the spirit of unforgiveness, bitterness, jealousy, and probably the deadliest bait of all, the spirit of offense.
For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. Psalm 91:3 (NASB)
If someone hurts your feelings or is being unkind, take it to our Lord and only to Him. He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. Nothing surprises Him. He already knows who is behaving badly because He sees their heart.
The warring tactics of the enemy are classic, unoriginal and predictable at best. Satan does what works, he uses people, IF we allow him to. So, why is he here?
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10 (NASB)
Problem: thief -> Solution: Jesus = It is finished! Game over!
- The quicker we seek restoration in our relationships the quicker we extinguish the fiery darts the enemy has prepared and loaded into his bow.
- The faster we are to truly love others the faster the darts will ricochet off our armor.
We must stay focused and know that the advancement and victory for the Glory of God is the ultimate threat to the enemy, and he wants nothing more than destruction, devastation and hurt feelings among some of our relationships.
As long as we live on this planet we will have free will to choose our behavior, to choose our obedience, to choose our path. Although some will try, we can’t control, influence or manipulate the other person into receiving the love, forgiveness and peace, but that is what we, as Christians, are called to do.
No matter the circumstance, no matter who is in the “right” or in the “wrong”, the truth remains… “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 (HCSB)
So, let’s go fishing with a different kind of bait. Let’s bait our hooks with peace, forgiveness, with grace and especially with love. We have the power and the authority to cast the enemy back to the pit of hell where he belongs. We have work to do, so what are we waiting for?
