A City Set On A Hill

Prayed for, purposed, prepared…blessed to be part of something bigger than myself. #miracleoffering
Tonight we celebrate the 15th birthday of Celebration Church. Set on 110 acres on the hill in Georgetown, Texas we now move forward and begin to break ground on our new worship center set at the highest point of the 110 acres.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NASB)

Our family has been attending for over five years. I can remember the first service. We walked in and knew we were home. Little did I know my oldest would feel the stirring of the Holy Spirit to enroll as a Celebration School of Leadership Intern and go to Xai Xai Africa.

Before we knew what Kingdom building really was Momma was a Kingdom Builder. In the late 70’s Momma and our family was part of the first and founding members of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Austin, Texas. Before there was a name or even property on Ranch Road 620 in Austin Momma was there. We were but children and didn’t yet know how privileged we were at the time to witness the great love Momma had for Christ Jesus and His Church. We saw her week after week faithfully serve and lovingly write her checks, often multiple checks for special causes and “building funds” as they were called back in the day. She never gave begrudgingly. She never rolled her eyes or complained about being called to pray, called to give and give even more. I believe I know her well enough to say Momma knew it was a great honor, privilege and necessity to secure her legacy (five children) and sew into His Kingdom, the Church. It was what God called her to do and she honored Him until the very end.

Fast forward, Momma and Daddy have since passed away. I would love for them to have seen Celebration Church and the growth, blessings and many miracles that has happened in my life and that of the boys in these five short years. They would be so proud, especially Momma to see we are apart of such a life giving church.

There is no better investment or rate of return than sewing into the growing of His Kingdom. Just as Momma sewed into His Kingdom to honor our Lord and secure her legacy. I too follow in her footsteps to glorify our Lord and pray and believe the same for my three boys. As Pastor Lori said this morning in service, I too pray my ceiling becomes their floor.

Thank you Pastor Joe and Pastor Lori Champion for your obedience to listen, hear and follow God’s call. Your unwavering love, Spirit-led leadership and pursuit for His heart and purpose inspires me daily. I too see and experience the miracles by His hands. I continue to pray for you both, your boys, your family and His church. I am grateful for you both and am grateful to be a small part of Celebration Church. Thank you too for your prayers, encouragement, love and support. I am grateful to do life with you. I love you!
